GPA Calculator (4.0 Scale)

Enter each course's letter grade and credit hours to get your grade point average.

How GPA is calculated

GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) ÷ Σ(credits)

Each letter grade maps to grade points (A = 4.0). Multiply by credit hours, sum, and divide by total credits. Example: A (3 cr), B+ (4 cr), A- (3 cr) → (4.0×3 + 3.3×4 + 3.7×3) ÷ 10 = 36.3 ÷ 10 = 3.63.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good GPA?

On the 4.0 scale, 3.5+ is generally considered strong, 3.0 solid, and 2.0 the typical minimum to remain in good standing. Requirements vary by school and programme.

Semester vs cumulative GPA?

A semester GPA covers one term; a cumulative GPA combines every term. Use the cumulative GPA calculator for the latter.

How do I raise my GPA?

Future high grades pull a cumulative GPA up more slowly as your credit total grows. Plan with the cumulative calculator.
