How to read it
Find your US GPA in the left column; the right column gives the closest Australia equivalent (7-point scale). Conversions are approximate.
Australia grading culture
Australian transcripts are graded on a 7-point scale (Fail through High Distinction) rather than a continuous GPA, and that 7-point grade stays the primary mark on the transcript even at universities that also calculate a numeric GPA for the degree as a whole.
Common conversion pitfall
"GPA" is genuinely ambiguous in Australia because universities compute it on different denominators — some report it out of 7.0 to match the grading scale directly, others convert to the 4.0 scale used internationally — so a 6.0 GPA from one Australian university is not automatically comparable to a 6.0 from another without checking which scale was used.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an official Australia conversion?
No. Universities and evaluators (e.g. WES, ECE) apply their own formulas — treat this as a guide.
How do I get my US GPA first?
Use the GPA calculator for one term or the cumulative GPA calculator across your degree.
Why are conversions only approximate?
Grading scales differ in shape and meaning between countries, so any mapping is an estimate.
