Planning for an exam
Set the exam’s weight and your target grade. The calculator returns the exam score that gets you there from your current grade.
The formula
needed = (target − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight, weight as a decimal.
Worked example
At 80% with remaining work worth 30% and a target of 85%: needed = (85 − 80 × 0.70) ÷ 0.30 = 96.7%.

What do I enter for weight?
The combined share of your grade that the remaining work (or exam) counts for, as a percentage.
What if the result is over 100%?
